i dont have the book yet but ill do my points of the discussion we had in class and the stuff we read,
first id like to say her writing is very different from what im used to reading. it very unpredictable and keeps you on your feet at all times because you dont know what to expect next, or what shell say or how shell relate or not relate the the sentence before that to what shes saying now.
also theres some repition of some of the stuff she talks about or mentions. one that stood to me was the color read she uses that alot in this blook in different context or meaning everytime. she does alot of realtions to the word and also defines it in different ways. things such as blood, rape, laloo, birth, abortion. I think she repeats it because it has alot of significance to her writing and her story, alot of it is sad and hurtful and awing.
thirdly most of her writing doesnt make sense until you have dicussed writing fiction or how it is created or thought of. after reading the packet on fiction writing i could better understand what she was saying. although her style is very alien to me, she makes more sense after reading that.
i also thought id be able to relate to her since im indian too but i really couldnt except for some of the words she used and things she talked about such as the gods and such. some things she said about my culture i would disagree with because they arent true but i guess she was trying to use them in her context and her experiences.
